To This Day Project and Shane Koyczan

‘To This Day’ Video has Gone Viral

Wow. Have a look at this

Many many animators donated their time and worked in collaboration with the volunteer efforts of Vancouver design group Giant Ant over a mere 20 days to create an impressive variety of multiple animation segments which were strung together to produce the incredibly successful and poignant To This Day video. The animation went viral and is now approaching 5 million views in barely a week.

“The Medium” AND “The Message”

The project’s self titled poem was written and is narrated by Canadian spoken word poet Shane Koyzcan. Some of you may have seen him perform his powerful paean to Canada “We Are More” at the opening ceremonies for the Olympics in 2010.

It is a great example of a video where “the medium” AND “the message” are each pulling their weight.

To This Day reminds us that it is always the right time to do what is right, and never too early or too late to forget that each and every one of us is worthy of love.

Moving Tales Are Producing A ‘To This Day’ App

Over the last few months, I’ve been discussing with Shane various ways that we can assist in bringing his work to a wider audience using some of the new media opportunities that are available. We hope to have some additional announcement on that front in the next while. In the meanwhile, Moving Tales are working with Shane and all involved in the To This Day Project to bring this fantastic collaborative video out as an interactive app very soon.

All of us on the Moving Tales team are keen to follow Shane’s star as it is hoisted well out of reach of rough knuckled bullies so that it may continue to inspire the bullied in all walks of life.
